Throwing Shade at The Sun
Self worship debonair Paper heart lighter than air Pay whisper to be free Silence instead of me Vintage speak and spell Go home or go to hell Rock paper scissors blade Leave shadow in the shade I, I threw mud at the sun I called to everyone To suck it up I, I threw blood at the sun I said to everyone To suck it up Throwing shade at the sun Sole survivor of the dream Tongue tied in the moonbeam Dance free for paper crowns Two ups and twenty downs A pocketful of blackened rye Broken plates for alibi None the wiser none the same Low on spirit high on shame Because I, I threw mud at the sun I called to everyone To suck it up I, I threw blood at the sun I said to everyone To suck it up Throwing shade at the sun

I almost feel a fight here against something that keeps shining even when we want to darken it. You can throw mud at the sun, but the sun is still there. Maybe that’s what hurts the most.
